Costa Rica after the fact...

My job down there was to spot the birds and color commentary (this means I was capturing scenery and other fun things that happened).  I am sad to say that even though I did an amazing job memorizing the birds and images on all of my flash cards, once I got into the field it was VERY hard to actually find and see the birds in the field. They were either buried in the greenery, in bad lighting, or females (I didn't study those!)
Some cows passed by as we were in the farm fields looking for the quetzals. What was neat about this trip is part of the money we paid for it went to this farmer to encourage him to keep the gorgeous trees and habitat for the quetzals. Don't know what a quetzal looks like - Resplendent Quetzal

Out in the field looking for the Resplendent Quetzal - no mature males with the long tails, but females and juveniles. Still pretty amazing!

Highland birding morning

More to come later!  I have some amazing hummingbird photos to share and a cute green baslisk!
